Maxillaria tenuifolia is found throughout Central America at elevations of 1000 to 5000 feet in shady forests. Known for its exquisite fragrance of vanilla and coconut it is called the Coconut orchid. It is an easy grower, tolerant of a wide range of growing conditions and can quickly grow into large specimen plants. It is best grown on the dry side in winter with intermediate temperatures and partial shade. These are blooming size divisions.
